Introducing the Frustration Index
We’re excited to announce the launch of the Frustration Index, a powerful new metric in mPulse that gives teams deeper insights into user experience and behavior.
What Is the Frustration Index?
The Frustration Index measures the frequency and intensity of user challenges, such as slow load times, a lack of visual progress, or delays in interactivity, helping you identify friction points that may be impacting conversions and engagement.
The Frustration Index score is a single number indicating the level of frustration an end user has with a web page or property.
The score is easy to grasp. It ranges from 0 to 100. As the number gets higher, it indicates how much frustration end users are having navigating your web property.
You can also read a deeper background about the theory behind Frustration Index to learn more.
The Frustration Index looks at four key areas experienced by end users when accessing a webpage or application:
- Time when the page's title is visible (i.e., Time to First Byte),
- Time when the first content is visible (i.e., First Contentful Paint),
- Time when a given piece of content is visually ready (i.e., Largest Contentful Paint or Time to Visually Ready)
- Time to when a web page looks ready to interact (i.e., Page Load Time, Time to Interactive, or Largest ContentFul Paint).
It calculates the time differences between these phases and arrives at the frustration score.
Why It’s a Game-Changer
- Increased Engagement: By identifying and addressing user frustration, organizations can boost engagement and conversion rates.
- Actionable Insights: Enable proactive optimizations for better user outcomes.
- Quantifiable ROI: Help organizations quantify and reduce user dissatisfaction, boosting retention and revenue.
